Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards improving student healthcare, the Odisha government will soon begin distributing ‘Digital Health Cards’ to school students residing in hostels. The initiative aims to ensure better monitoring and treatment of students’ health, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed on Monday.
“Every student staying in hostels will be provided with a Digital Health Card. These cards will contain detailed health histories, which will help in timely diagnosis and treatment. Any existing health issues will be recorded, enabling the department to take necessary healthcare measures,” said Minister Gond while speaking to reporters.
The initiative is being developed by the School and Mass Education Department and is expected to streamline the process of healthcare delivery to hostel students across the state.
The move is seen as part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance the welfare and well-being of students, particularly those from remote and underprivileged backgrounds.
