Odisha Govt To Set Up 20 Hospitals Of 2700 Bedded, Create 10,000 Medical Job Opportunities

**Bhubaneswar: ** In a bid to improve healthcare facility and provide it at the doorstep of the people, Odisha Chief Minister has taken decision to establish 20 hospitals in the State on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode having 2700 beds at the initial stage and that could create 10,000 job opportunities.

As per a press note released by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), this is in accordance with State Government’s Health Service Investment Policy-2016 and 11 priority districts will be incorporated.

The proposed hospitals will be set up in Puri, Jeypore, Angul, Barbil, Baripada, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Phulbani, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Subarnapur, Rayagada, Parlakhemundi, Rairangpur and Kendrapara.

These hospitals will be constructed under the Hub and Stock model of the State Government’s Affordable Healthcare Project. Some of these hospitals will act as Hub (central hospital) while some others will function as Stock (branch hospital), the CMO press note stated.
While the Stock model hospital will have orhtopaedic, medicine, gynaecology, paediatric, anaesthesia, eye, ENT, dental, X-ray, skin, mental disease, trauma care, emergency, etc, the Hub hospital will also have heart disease and neurology wards apart from the already mentioned wards.

As these 20 proposed hospitals would have 2700 beds initially, it would cater to the 57% bed problem need. While these hospitals will be accorded National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare (NABH) Accreditation, 50% of their beds will be in the general ward, the press note said.

It also said that the patients under the implemented Insurance and Assurance scheme and Select Category will also reap the benefits from these hospitals.

The press note also stated that this decision will attract minimum Rs 1000 crore investment into private healthcare sector and also create 10000 job opportunities. These job opportunities chiefly for the para-medics and women will be mainly benefitted.
