Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has issued a notification announcing the formation of a ‘Traffic and Road Safety Wing’ (T&RSW) that will operate directly under the supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP).
Additionally, the government has notified the establishment of 20 new cyber police stations across the state to enhance cybersecurity measures. The T&RSW unit will have its headquarters in Bhubaneswar, with 66 sanctioned positions, and 1,930 posts allocated for district-level deployment.
“The newly created ‘Traffic & Road Safety Wing’ (T&RSW) shall be a state-evel setup operating directly under the D.G. & I.G. of Police, Odisha”, read the notification issued by Additional Chief Secretary to Government to the Accountant General (A&E) and Accountant General (Audit).
It is pertinent to mention that the wing is designed to enhance traffic management and road safety measures, focusing on both headquarters operations in Bhubaneswar and district-level deployments. The T&RWS aims to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents through various initiatives.
