Bhubaneswar: In order to encourage faster adoption of E-vehicles in the State, the Commerce and Transport Department of the Odisha government has exempted registration fees and motor vehicles taxes for all categories of electric vehicles.
Now the State government has decided to give subsidies to various Electric Vehicle buyers with effect from September 1, 2021, up to December 31, 2025, said a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department today.
While the subsidy for two-wheelers is 15% of the cost of the vehicle subject to a maximum amount of Rs 5000, for three-wheelers it is 15% of the cost of the vehicle subject to a maximum amount of Rs 10,000 and for four-wheelers, it is 15% of the cost of the vehicle subject to a maximum amount of Rs 50,000.
The notification said that the subsidy amount will be credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries by the concerned RTO where the vehicle is registered/will be registered.
The Transport Commissioner with the help of NIC/ OCAC will develop a dedicated Portal to monitor all information relating to EV sales, crediting of purchase incentives, subsidy on loans for the purchase of EV, etc, the notification added.
