Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has upgraded 2836 mini anganwadis in the State to anganwadi kendras. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given his approval to a proposal in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Patnaik has always emphasized on health and its awareness among women and children.
The state government decided to upgrade the 2836 mini anganwadis on the direction of the Chief Minister.
Notably, as on date out of 74154 anganwadi kendras in the state, 10416 were mini anganwadi kendras, and out of these 2836 were upgraded, said an official press release.
In addition to this, additional funds will be provisioned for the management of different activities–medicines, assets, and administrative expenses.
With this upgradation, 114 supervisor posts have been created in the state. This apart, to assist an anganwadi worker at each and every anganwadi kendra an anganwadi helper will be appointed.
Similarly, 2836 anganwadi helpers will be appointed in addition to 2836 mini anganwadi workers will be upgraded to anganwadi workers.
For this, the state government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 18,75,41,440 annually.
