Odisha Govt’s Call To Public & Pvt Sector For New COVID Care Homes

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to create new COVID Care Centres the State Government is engaging with industrial and corporate houses. Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today held a discussion with Heads of corporate sectors (both public and private) which have their units in Odisha.

Government has created a large number of units under three-tire covid care system. These are Covid Care Centers (CCCs) Covid Heath Centers (CHSs) and Specialized Covid Hospitals.

Asymptomatic or mild-symptomatic corona positive persons are taken care in CCCs. Other patients are admitted to CHSs and COVID hospitals depending on the degree of infection and the kind of care they need as per guidelines of ICMR and Health & Family Welfare department.

More than 80% of the cases need treatment at the CCCs, said Tripathy.

“Taking away the asymptomatic or mild-symptomatic persons from their home and social setting to isolation might impact their mental well being. Considering this, the Government decided to allow home isolation or institutional isolation in their own social setting,” the Chief Secretary said.

The industry leaders appreciated the steps taken by the Government so far in the fight against COVID-19. They have come forward to set up CCCs on own premises their own employees and family members.

Around 40 companies including MCL, NALCO, OCL, IOCL Paradeep Refinery, NTPC, RSP, IOCL, HAL, STPI, NCL, IDCO, IPICOL, OSRTC, OPTCL, Tata Power, NESCO, SOUTHCO, WESCO, GRIDCO, OHPC, OMC, IDICOL, OTDC, OSBC, OSIC, OSFC, Tata Steel, JSW, IMFA, GRASIM, EMAMI, DALMIA Cement, HINDALCO, Laxmi Cement, ACC Cement, Vedanta Ltd, JK Paper, JSPL, JSL participated.

Principal Secretary, Industry Hemant Sharma these companies to come up with the CCCs within a week. The Chief Secretary assured all technical guidance and training facilities and critical medicines from the Government’s side. To save time and to make the process hassle free, they were advised to coordinate with the Collectors and Municipal Commissioners of the respective areas where they create these facilities.

Managing Director, IPICOL Dr Nitin B Jawale and Joint Secretary Industires Subhandra Kumar Nayak, designated as Nodal Officer for the purpose also participated.
