Odisha Govt’s Plan Afoot To Ply Electric Buses In Puri, Bhubaneswar & Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to curb on the rising air pollution as well as level of carbon dioxide and monoxide emissions in the State, especially in the urban areas, Odisha Government has planned to introduce electric buses in place of the fossil-fuel-driven public transport fleet.
This was informed in the Assembly today by Odisha Science & Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda.
He apprised the House that the electric buses ply soon in three cities of Golden Triangle-pilgrim city Puri, Smart City Bhubaneswar and Silver City Cuttack.
The Science & Technology Minister further informed the members of the House that the electricity-propelled buses will be running within 100 km radius and cover the three main cities of Odisha.
He also informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be inked in the near future.
He added that the initiative of the State Government is to phase out the conventional mode of fossil-fuel-driven transport system.
