Bhubaneswar: In a significant step toward enhancing skill development in Odisha, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati inaugurated the International Language Training Centre at the Skill Development Institute (SDI) Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The Governor also launched the ‘Skill on Wheels’ initiative, flagged off with a green flag, aimed at taking skill training to remote areas.
The event, held at SDI Bhubaneswar, was attended by Odisha’s Minister for Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education, Sampad Swain, along with key officials, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Bhupendra Singh Poonia, SDI Bhubaneswar Chairman Rashmi Govil, and representatives from NSDC and IOCS.
Governor Kambhampati lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mission Skill India and Odisha’s progressive strides in skill development.
He praised Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling him the architect of SDI Bhubaneswar, a world-class facility built on 47 acres at the foothills of Barunei Hill with a ₹500 crore investment. The campus has become a model for skill training, particularly benefiting engineering, polytechnic, and ITI graduates.
The newly launched International Language Training Centre will equip Odisha’s youth with foreign language skills, opening doors to global career opportunities.
The ‘Skill on Wheels’ initiative will extend skill training to underserved regions, ensuring wider access to vocational education.
The Governor emphasized that comprehensive support will be provided to trainees to enhance their career prospects.
The event underscores Odisha’s commitment to empowering its youth through skill development, aligning with national goals of fostering a skilled workforce ready for global challenges.
