Bhubaneswar: As per the 2015-16 agriculture census, the State has 48,65,850 operational holdings, informed Planning & Convergence Minister Rajendra Dholakia.
Replying to a query from BJP Member Mohan Charan Majhi in the Odisha Assembly today, Dholakia told that as per the last assessment the State’s economic growth rate is 7.82%, paddy production is 14077420 metric tonne, sugarcane 397600 metric tonne, maize 284710 metric tonne, potato 116120 metric tonne, green gram (moong) 88470 metric tonne, groundnut 87720 metric tonne, black gram 31230 metric tonne, and horse gram 16230 metric tonne.
He said Odisha has a total of 46,19,289 hectares of cultivable land. While per capita income in Odisha is Rs 1,50,676 (2022-23), the per capita expenditure in Odisha’s rural areas is Rs 904.78 (2011-12), and the per capita expenditure in urban areas of Odisha is Rs 1830.33, he added.
He said that while the industrial growth rate in the State is 6.05%, the monthly income of a farmer’s family is Rs 5112 as per the 77th Round of NSS.
The Minister pointed out that as per the 2011 census 17.13% of the State’s population were from the scheduled caste community, 22.85% were from scheduled tribe community and others comprised 60.02%.
He said that the State’s GSDP is Rs 76596277 and contribution of agriculture, industries and mining are respectively 22.52%, 31.08% and 10.21%.
