Bhubaneswar: Taking stock of the post cyclone situation and constantly reviewing health care services being rendered in the cyclone-affected districts, Odisha Health Secretary Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda directed uninterrupted services there.
Empasising on the 9 most affected districts, the Health Secretary has directed to disinfect all open drinking water sources, specially in all urban slums immediately.
He has also directed all the Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) for maintaining steady cleanliness of the hospitals, availability of drinking water and power backup, etc and ensure timely treatment and presence of doctors and other staff.
The review meeting revealed that Cyclone FANI has affected over 1031 hospitals out of which Puri district has the maximum 172 hospitals, in Khurda district 133 hospitals, Mayurbhanj 132, Jajpur 111, Kendrapada 100, Jagatsinghpur 99, Balasore 68, Bhadrak 65 and Cuttack district has 41 hospitals affected by the extremely severe cyclonic storm.
Prominent among others, the meeting held in the conference hall of health department was also attended by NHM Director Shalini Pandit, State Medical Corporation Ltd MD Archana Pattanaik, Joint Secretary Yamini Sadangi, Additional Secretary Sarat Mishra, Special Secretary Dr B.K. Brahma and Special Secretary Dr Lingaraj Mishra and other senior officers were present.
