Bhubaneswar: In an effort to deal with the threat of Novel Coronavirus, Odisha Health Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal on Sunday held a meeting with medical and public health experts and with authorities of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) to review the arrangements for screening, isolation and treatment of the disease.
Dhal also visited the State Control Room and Capital Hospital to inspect the arrangements made to deal with the disease. He assured that the department is closely following the emerging novel Coronavirus situation.
In the meantime, the Health Department has urged all citizens to observe personal hygiene and have asked persons with travel history to China during the last one month and flu-like symptoms to use mask and report to the nearest DHH/CHC for screening.
The department has asserted that there is no need to panic about the situation and SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack is fully equipped to treat persons who are diagnosed to have been infected by the virus.
Union Health Secretary will interact with all States through video conferencing in this regard on Monday morning. Besides, Dhal will hold a media briefing at the National Health Mission (NHM) Conference Hall in the afternoon.
