**Bhubaneswar: ** Severe heatwave conditions continue to wreck havoc in Odisha with seven places recording maximum temperatures above 40 degree Celsius today, the Met Department said.
The north-western Odisha town Sundargarh recorded the maximum temperature of 42.0 degree Celsius followed by Sonepur at 41.8 degree Celsius and Bolangir at 41.0 degree Celsius.
Other towns were the temperature crossed the 40 degree mark are Titlagarh (40.5 degree), Jharsuguda (40.5), Sambalpur (40.4) and Hirakud (40.3).
The maximum temperature recorded in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 38.0 degrees Celsius and 37.0 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to the regional Met centre, the heatwave conditions will continue for a couple of days. The sky will be partly cloudy and rain/thundershower are likely to occur due to the impact of the Nor’wester.
