Odisha: Higher Education Dept Inks MoUs To Boost Access & Equity
**Bhubaneswar:** The Higher Education Department on Thursday signed two MoUs to facilitate access, equity and quality education to students. The first MoU was singed with with TCIL, Department of Telecommunication to have smart virtual classrooms in 101 degree colleges.
This will bring about digitisation in imparting education to students in an advanced manner. Each smart classroom will have desktop, interactive white board, short throw-projector, portable visualiser, white board, green board, wireless microphone and camera.
This will expose the students of Odisha to a system of modern and quality education which is faster, practical based with audio visual impact. The students of these degree colleges can learn through audio visuals. The teachers and students in the classroom can interact with the students of other degree colleges with the help of smart classroom.
The second MoU was signed between Higher Education Department and Dhyeya Educational Services to provide comprehensive, quality based coaching to civil service aspirants of the State. This initiative is expected to boost success rate of the students in the state in the competitive examinations.
The government will provide qualitative civil services coaching to Odia students at Bhubaneswar. The government has come up with a scheme by offering 75 percent fee waiver to students selected under the scheme and 100 percent fee waiver to students with family income of less than Rs 2 lakh per annum.
A standard uniform syllabi for undergraduate students was launched today. The international standard syllabus will enable students for employment and research.
To make the project a success, a committee was formed under Higher Education Department with Vice Chairperson of Odisha State Higher Education Council and experienced educationalists of the universities. The standard unified syllabi will be implemented after those are passed through the academic council.
