**Bhubaneswar:** Set up on either sides of Gate No-3 of the revamped Kalinga Stadium, ‘Fan Village’ is the spot where fans can go to relax, unwind, take selfies and interact with their favourite players thus getting one step close to hockey.
Filled with a host of fun activities like food court and live music show, the Fan Village keeps the audience engaged when before and after hockey matches. Those with tickets or passes are allowed to go into the Fan Village and might even be lucky enough to meet the players, shake hands and talk to them when they come out of practice court.
A first-of-its-kind, the Fan village has different food stalls, selfie stands, a cheerful ‘Olly’, and other fun activities like a section where fans can play hockey, watch live music performance and even take cycles on rent for a ride around the stadium.
Due to the increasing interest of the fans, the organisers had decided to launch the Fan Village back in August. Following that the construction work had begun in full swing and the unique hangout spot was inaugurated by DGP Rajendra Prasad moments before the grand opening ceremony on November 27.
An excited fan shared, “I got nail art and tattoo done for cheering Team India in one of the stalls of Fan Village. I also got to witness a fire performer in action and was enchanted by his talent. I would like to thank the Odisha Government for coming up with this unique idea to keep the fans engaged.”
