Bhubaneswar: The Commerce and Transport Department today convened a stakeholder consultation meeting in Bhubaneswar to discuss the proposed amendments to the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, paving the way for the upcoming Odisha EV Policy 2.0.

The meeting, chaired by Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport Department, brought together senior officials and domain experts from multiple departments and sectors to deliberate on strategies for strengthening Odisha’s electric vehicle ecosystem and accelerating the State’s transition to clean mobility.

Among those present were Transport Commissioner Amitav Thakur, CMD–OSRTC N.B.S Rajput, MD–CRUT Sanjaya Biswal, and senior representatives from the Housing & Urban Development, Energy, Finance, and Skill Development & Technical Education Departments. The meeting was held at the 5th Floor Conference Hall of Kharavel Bhavan.

Key areas of discussion included enhanced purchase incentives for EV adoption, vehicle retrofitment and scrappage benefits, expansion of charging infrastructure under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, and the creation of a dedicated State EV Fund to ensure long-term financial sustainability of EV initiatives.

Emphasising the importance of inter-departmental coordination and private sector participation, Padhee highlighted the need for capacity building, skill development, and policy alignment to facilitate an inclusive and seamless transition to electric mobility across Odisha.

The consultation marks a key step toward finalising Odisha EV Policy 2.0, which aims to position the State as a frontrunner in India’s clean and green mobility revolution — aligned with the broader vision of Viksit Odisha 2036.
