Odisha Houses 2,475 Destitute Persons In Old Age Homes, Reveals Minister

Bhubaneswar: Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SS&EPD) Minister Nityananda Gond today informed the Odisha Assembly that 2,475 destitute persons are being cared for in various old age homes across the state.

Of these, 2,335 residents live in 87 Central Govt-funded homes, while 150 are accommodated in 5 state-funded facilities. The annual maintenance cost for state-run homes stands at ₹15.31 lakh, with total yearly expenditure reaching ₹76.56 lakh, the Minister disclosed in response to a query posed by BJD MLA Manohar Randhari.
