Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the appointment of IPS officer Sagarika Nath, a 2016 batch officer from the Odisha cadre, as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on a deputation basis.

The Ministry has requested the Odisha government to relieve Nath from her current assignment immediately, enabling her to assume her new responsibilities at the Centre.

The appointment is against an existing vacancy and will be governed by the standard terms and conditions of central deputation. Necessary instructions have been issued to the Director General of Police, Odisha, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi, to coordinate a smooth transition.

With this posting, Sagarika Nath will contribute to handling high-profile national security cases at India’s premier counter-terrorism agency.

The date of joining is to be intimated to the Ministry upon assumption of charge.
