Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to becoming a global investment destination, as the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 concluded with remarkable success.
Speaking at the valedictory session, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed immense pride in the event’s achievements, emphasizing its role in shaping Odisha’s industrial future.
As the conclave came to an end, he stated that he stood with immense happiness, pride, and gratitude. Over the past two days, he had the opportunity to interact with some of the brightest minds in business and felt assured that the time invested had been well-spent.
Highlighting the overwhelming response from investors, he announced that a total of 145 investment-related Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, amounting to ₹12.89 lakh crore, across key sectors such as chemicals & petrochemicals, textiles, mining & metallurgy, renewable energy, IT/ITeS, tourism, and food processing. These investments are expected to generate over 8.94 lakh job opportunities, ensuring significant socio-economic growth across the state.
Additionally, 448 investment intention forms, worth ₹3.84 lakh crore with a job potential of 3.92 lakh, were received. In total, Odisha secured 593 projects with investments worth ₹16.73 lakh crore and employment potential of 12.88 lakh jobs across more than 20 sectors.
The Chief Minister underlined Odisha’s growing reputation as a global investment hub, stating that the conclave had solidified Odisha’s position on the world stage. Delegates from over 16 countries, including Partner Nations Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia, participated in the event. He said that Odisha aspires to be the gateway to South-Eastern countries and urged industries to make Odisha their business hub for exports.
He assured investors that the state government would establish a dedicated mechanism to ensure swift implementation of MoUs and investment proposals. The government, he stated, would work round the clock to transform these MoUs and investment intentions into reality. Acknowledging that cost and time overruns were major concerns for the industry, he promised that the government would ensure no delays in executing projects and that his office would remain accessible to investors.
CM Majhi emphasized that this is just the beginning of Odisha’s journey toward industrial transformation and that the process would continue. The government remains open to new ideas that foster opportunities in the state. He reiterated the state’s focus on building a strong industrial ecosystem through its Industrial Policy Resolution, single-window clearance system, and emphasis on ease, speed, and cost-effectiveness in business operations.
He also highlighted Odisha’s commitment to sustainability, stating that beyond infrastructure and policies, the government is promoting green energy, circular economy practices, and renewable technologies to ensure sustainable industrial growth.
A key highlight of the conclave was the recognition of 60 young entrepreneurs under the age of 40, whose resilience, innovation, and contributions have significantly impacted Odisha’s economy. He noted that they serve as role models, inspiring the youth to drive innovation, create employment, and build a thriving industrial ecosystem.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, CM Majhi emphasized India’s rapid economic rise and Odisha’s role in the nation’s Purvodaya vision. He noted that India had already become the world’s fifth-largest economy and, under PM Modi’s leadership, would soon become the third-largest economy.
Odisha, he said, was proud to be part of this journey. Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for his support, he stated that he, his government, and the people of Odisha were deeply grateful to Prime Minister Modi for attending the conclave, as his presence served as an inspiration and a confidence-building measure.
The Chief Minister extended a warm invitation to investors and industry leaders, stating that Odisha welcomes them with open arms. He urged them to collaborate in turning commitments into transformative projects that would shape Odisha’s future and contribute to India’s growth story.
He concluded by emphasizing that the event marks a new beginning. While this is the end of the two-day conclave, he said, it is actually the beginning of a new journey towards hope, prosperity, and well-being for Odisha and its people.
