Bhubaneswar: Out of the three candidates who have filed nominations for Rajya Sabha recently, former IAS officer, Ashwini Vaishnav is the richest. As per individual affidavits filed by the three candidates, Vaishnav owns movable and immovable assets worth Rs 11.80 crore.
He has declared assets worth Rs 1.27 crore in the name of his wife. Vaishnav is BJP’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha. His candidature has been supported by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
On the other hand, BJD candidate for the Upper House, Amar Patnaik, a former IA&AS officer has declared net worth of Rs 5.40 crore while his wife owns assets worth Rs 4.16 crore.
The second candidate of BJD, Sasmit Patra has declared total assets of Rs 2.63 crore. His wife’s assets have been valued at Rs 80 lakh, the affidavit stated.
The by-elections for the Rajya Sabha in Odisha are scheduled to be held on July 5. Given their party’s numbers and support in the Odisha Assembly, all the aforementioned candidates are sure to make it to the Upper House of the Parliament.
