Odisha Launches Extensive Drive To Root Out Illegal Liquor Trade

Bhubaneswar: The drive against illegal liquor trade started by the Odisha government on August 20 is continuing for the last 15 days and it is considered to be the longest and biggest ever drive in the state.

All illegal liquor brewing and sales centers are being searched and completely destroyed by Excise department. Of these, 51 illegal breweries in the capital have been destroyed.

According to information received from the Excise department, till date 3,618 cases have been registered and 1,957 people have been arrested from 1,519 places. A total of 183 vehicles used in illegal liquor trade have also been seized by the Excise department

Responding to this campaign, the Minister of Law, Works, And Excise, Prithviraj Harichandan, said that the state government will take a strict approach against all illegal transactions in liquor business in the past.
