Odisha: ‘Lesbian Couple’ From Mayurbhanj Found Dead In Jharkhand’s Seraikela

**Bhubaneswar:** Two girls from Mayurbhanj district, including a minor were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Sareikela district of neighbouring Jharkhand on Saturday. The bodies were found in a house in Gamharia area of Sareikela on Saturday morning.

The duo have been identified as Rashmita (16), daughter of one Jayant Nayak of Patharkhama village under Bangriposi police limits and Gudia Patra (25) of Jhinei village under Kuliana police limits in Mayurbhanj.

“The two had come to Jharkhand about 10 days back and were reportedly under family pressure to live separately. Prima facie evidence reveals that they have committed suicide,” Sareikela SP, Chandan Kumar said.

The two went missing on Tuesday and Rashmita’s father had lodged a complaint at Bangriposi police station. On Saturday night, both were found hanging from the ceiling of a room.

Though the exact cause behind their death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the two young girls were in a lesbian relationship and were staying in that room after eloping from their house.
