Cuttack: Competition Manager at United World Wrestling, Ramil Ahmadov, and CEO of Sporty Solutionz (Commercial Partner of Wrestling Federation of India), Ashish Chadha, visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack on Monday.
Reportedly, they toured the stadium to check the available infrastructure for hosting the Asian Wrestling Championship 2020.
Speaking to mediapersons, Chadha said, “The place looks good but obviously there would be some requirements which we will place in front of the local organising committee and if that gets fulfilled, collectively we can move ahead on organisation of Asian Wrestling out here in Odisha.”
He further asserted that as the local bodies and local State authorities have been organising various global sporting events and with basic infrastructure in place the requirements are sure to be fulfilled by the concerned authorities.
General Secretary of Odisha Wrestling Association, Kishore Behera, said that the inspection team is yet to take a final decision but hosting of the wrestling championship in the millennium city will help in popularising the sport.
Amateur wrestlers from Odisha will get to learn new techniques and it will also be beneficial for the Odisha Wrestling Association, he added.
