Soro: Mumbai police on Wednesday arrested one Kesaba Jena (41) of Gopinathpur village under Soro police limits in Balasore district for allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth over Rs 1 crore from the residence of a businessman Nandesh Jagadish Basa of Mumbai.
Police have recovered 160 gm of the stolen gold ornaments.
According to the police, Kesaba Jena was working as a domestic help at the 67 Peddar Road residence of Nandesh Jagadish Basa in Mumbai.
On June 22, Jena stole gold ornaments worth over Rs 1 crore from Basa’s residence and fled. Later, Basa lodged a complaint with Mumbai Gamdevi Police Station about the theft of the gold ornaments. A case was registered in this connection under sections 381, 420, 411 and 34 of IPC.
During its investigation, Mumbai Police nabbed Jena from Bhubaneswar. While police have recovered stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 40 lakh from different persons to whom Jena had sold, today police have recovered stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 12 lakh from a jeweller at Bada Khuri Chhak here.
