Jharsuguda: Normal life came to a stand still at Brajrajnagar here as locals took to the streets demanding arrest of miscreants who shot a man dead on Monday night.

As per reports, one Amit Dhal was playing cards with his friends near Brajrajnagar bus stand when two bike-borne miscreants fired five rounds from a country-made pistol at him around 8:10 pm.

After sustaining bullet injuries on his chest and stomach, Dhal was taken to a local hospital for treatment and from there he was referred to Bhubaneswar. But, Dhal succumbed to his injuries on the way.

As the two miscreants have gone absconding, locals blocked National Highway 49 near Gandhi Chhak on Tuesday morning demanding their immediate arrest. Markets were also shut and vehicular movement was affected.

The people also demanded that criminal activities are on the rise in the area and appealed for strict steps to be taken in order to curb the anti-social activities.
