Bhadrak: In a deplorable incident, a man stabbed his wife to death and later committed suicide by hanging from a tree over a petty family dispute in Mulna Sahi village under Dhamnagar police station limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Bhaskar Samal and his wife Sasmita.
According to reports, Bhaskar had an argument with his wife over some family issues on Monday. The argument turned ugly when Bhaskar took out a knife and stabbed his wife in a fit of anger. His wife, Sasmit died on the spot. Soon after this, Bhaskar locked his room and hanged himself from a tree near the village.
Villagers spotted the body of Bhaskar early on Tuesday morning and later discovered his wife lying in a pool of blood in their bedroom.
On being informed, Dhamnagar police arrived at the spot and launched an investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests that Bhaskar committed suicide as he repented to killing his wife in a rage.
The deceased couple was married about 16 years ago and they have left behind two minor sons.
