Nabarangpur: A newly-married pregnant woman was strangled to death on Wednesday allegedly by her husband and in-laws over dowry in Bhimasahi under Papdahandi police station limits in Nabarangpur district.
Parents of the deceased woman identified as Tanushree Nayak have lodged a complaint at the Papadahandi police station alleging murder of their daughter by her husband Albert Shakespeare Benia and in-laws over dowry demand, reports said.
While the woman was found hanging in the kitchen of their rented house, her husband Albert and his family members are absconding.
Papadahandi police have seized the body of the deceased woman and have launched an investigation into the matter, the reports added.
As per reports, Albert of Kholiguda village under Papdahandi police station limits had married Tanushree of Ghusramaruguda village under Dabugan police station limits on October 5 last year after falling in love with her.
A few days after their marriage, the two families had disturbances over dowry; the couple Albert and Tanushree shifted to a rented accommodation at Bhimasahi and were living there.
On Wednesday, the couple had a quarrel for some reason and at around midnight Albert called up his in-laws that Tanushree had committed suicide by hanging herself.
Deceased Tanushree is learned to be eight months pregnant.
However, on arrival at the couple’s rented accommodation at Bhimasahi Tanushree’s family members found that Albert and his family members were absconding while Tanushree’s body was hanging from the ceiling inside the kitchen.
