Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the prevalent pandemic situation and the classroom teaching pangs caused since lockdown last year, the Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) under the School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department has decided to conduct the annual matriculation examinations at the respective school centres this year instead of the usual practice holding it at other school centres.
The BSE sources also informed that the decision has been taken for this year as the examinees are going to face hardships in transportation and accommodation due to outstation examination centres.
The BSE authorities have, however, made it loud and clear that the invigilators will not be from the same schools.
Also the duration of each exam paper will be of two hours this time instead of the usual two and a half hours, BSE sources said.
The formal notification in this regard will be soon published by the BSE authorities soon.
This year, the Odisha Matric Exams have been slated to commence from May 3 and around 6.5 lakh students of the State are going to appear.
