Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) threatened to strike work from February 1. The OMSA, a body of government doctors, is demanding that the state government implement dynamic assured career progression (DACP) for them.
The OMSA said on Wednesday that its members would not participate in any national programme till their demands are fulfilled.
The OMSA alleged that the Odisha government did not show any interest to fulfill their demands despite several rounds of talks. The inordinate delay in fulfilling their demands has compelled them to take the decision to strike work. The announcement was made during a press conference convened by the doctors in the capital city.
The doctors said that even a financially backward state like Bihar has implemented DACP whereas the Odisha government is neglecting their demand. The state government has given only 10-grade pay in the last 20 years.
They alleged that while the state government is busy constructing medical colleges, little interest is shown when it comes to fulfilling their doctors’ demands.
