Bhubaneswar: Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera today ruled out the possibility of any relaxation in penal amounts collected from traffic rules violators.
“Why should penalties be relaxed after all? This involves the lives and properties of the people. I can’t comment on what other States have done. In my opinion, there is no need as such,” said Behera speaking to newsmen here.
On being cited with instances like car drivers being issued with challans for not wearing helmets, the Minister said,” A meeting on road safety will be held on December 18. DG Police, Chief Secretary, and senior officials will be present; we will have a threadbare discussion on these issues”.
