Odisha Minister Acts On Complaint Over Twitter, Ration Dealer’s License Cancelled

Bhubaneswar: The district administration of Puri has cancelled the PDS license of a ration retailer in Nimapada block. Irregularities surfaced against the retailer Gobinda Chandra Sahu which were reported to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain by locals over Twitter.

Minister Swain acted promptly in this matter and initiated an inquiry. Following the inquiry, Swain asked Collector Balwant Singh to act against Sahu. The Department informed today that Sub-Collector has cancelled the PDS retail license of Sahu belonging to Haripur gram panchayat.

In a similar incident, Swain acted on a Twitter complaint regarding discontinuation of ration supplies of one Damani Pamia in Koraput’s Kenduguda village. He initiated action and ordered release of ration supply to the beneficiary.

On the other hand, Swain has directed the Chief Supplies Officer of Koraput to look into the alleged irregularities in ration distribution in the district.
