Balasore: A minor went missing when his drunken father lost control and tumbled along with him into a river in Aigiria village of Madhusudanpur panchayat under Soro Police limits here on late Sunday night.
One Ayeri Munda with his five-year-old son Bapun were returning after buying crackers yesterday late evening on the occasion of Diwali. Ayeri stopped mid-way and had country liquor, said sources.
Reports suggest Ayeri had a bit too much to drink and while they were returning to their village, Ayeri tumbled into the river along with his son. Few locals spotted the distressed duo and were able to rescue the father but the son went missing. A search and rescue operation for Bapun by the Soro Fire Service personnel is underway.
Meanwhile, agitated locals scorched the illegal country liquor shop from where Ayeri had sourced the alcohol.
