**Angul**: A bus conductor was beaten up by irate villagers last night for allegedly having abused a college girl in the district’s Kanhia block.
On Monday morning, the girl of Telisingha village was on her way to Bhubaneswar when the conductor allegedly abused her repeatedly on the bus. The victim informed her family about the incident over the phone on reaching her destination.
Enraged family members relayed the message to the neighbours and nearby local shopkeepers. Late in the evening, the mob waited for the bus at the NTPC square and took matter into their hands when the bus reached the area.
They forced the conductor to admit his mistake. When the accused did not do as had been asked, the violent mob thrashed him till he blurted out his misdeed and asked for forgiveness.
Mob justice has become the order of the day and the Angul incident is yet another testament to that.
