**Cuttack:** Seven persons were injured in a group clash which broke out today evening at Narendrapur under Nemala police limits here.
The incident started with an altercation between two cycle rickshaw-pullers Sonu and Biku of Behera Sahi over gaining access to a narrow road.
The petty fight snowballed into a violent clash between two groups. By the time, the police arrived at the spot, seven persons had sustained grievous injuries.
The mob also blocked the main road connecting Katikata and Jaipur.
Cuttack Rural SP, Madhav Chandra Sahu rushed to the spot and tried to placate the crowd.
As the situation aggravated, irate locals set a police vehicle on fire. With the situation running out of control, the SP ordered deployment of armed forces.
While this report was being filed, six platoons force was deployed at the scene.
“The situation is under control and we are keeping a close watch at the vulnerable pockets in Narendrapur,” Sahu said.
