Odisha: MoU For Rs 116 Cr De-Salination Plant At Paradeep Inked Between PPT And NIOT

Paradip: The first state-of-the-art 10 MLD (million litres per day) de-sailnation plant in Odisha is going to be commissioned at Paradip Port. An MoU regarding consulting services was signed between Paradip Port Trust (PPT) and National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) Chennai, on Monday.

The MoU was signed between PPT Chief Engineer, Ramachandra Rao and NIOT Project Director, MV Ramana Murthy.

As per the MoU, sea-water reverse osmosis (SWRO) water will be made available in PPT town-ship. The tender for the project is likely to be floated by August 2019. This project will supplement the drinking water during the summer season in the Port Township.

This first of its kind drinking water venture in the State by PPT is a landmark project. The capital cost of the project is around Rs 116 crore. The operations and maintenance cost has been estimated at Rs 41.17 per kilo-litre of drinking water.
