Bhubaneswar: The passing of legendary Odia actor Uttam Mohanty has sparked widespread sorrow throughout the state, with numerous eminent personalities pouring in their condolences. Speaker of Odisha Assembly Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, as well as the Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, were among those who paid their respects to the iconic actor.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy condoled Mohanty’s death and wrote: “The death of legendary Odia actor Uttam Mohanty is an irreparable loss to the Odia film industry.”
In a condolence message, Padhy said that the late actor was a highly popular hero who carved a niche for himself in the field of acting. Mohanty’s versatility as an actor was evident in his performances in numerous Odia, Bengali, and even Hindi films, showcasing his artistic prowess.
The Speaker prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended her condolences to the bereaved family.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of veteran actor Uttam Mohanty. His passing has created an irreparable void in the Odia film industry. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and pray that his immortal soul rests in eternal peace.”
Former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik expressed his sorrow over the passing of legendary Odia actor Uttam Mohanty.
