**Bhubaneswar:** The cooperative marketing society of Odisha Government – Odisha State Cooperative Marketing Fedeartion (Markfed), has been automated. The improvised automation (computerised) system of Markfed was launched by Cooperation Minister Surya Narayan Patro today.
“The system will digitalise the entire supply chain from order to purchase and stocking to delivery. The new system will eliminate errors emerging due to manual work involved in the process,” Patro said.
The fertiliser company will be directly informed online about a requirement at a particular location. The company concerned receives the order and dispatches fertiliser to that location. This is the advantage of an automated inventory system, Patro added.
Markfed procures oil seeds, pulses and grains from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) and sells it to National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (Nafed), at one percent commission.
Markfed has done a good job in assisting farmers at the time of distress, the Minister added. Patro also launched the new website of Markfed on the occasion.
