Dhenkanal: Palpable tension prevailed after a newborn girl was found dead in front of Dhenkanal’s District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here today morning.

The identity of the deceased baby is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, locals have alleged that this is negligence on the part of hospital authorities and someone from the staff has abandoned the baby. They stood in a long queue to witness the scene and level allegations.

However, Namita Patnaik, in-charge of CDMO said, “The body was found outside the boundary wall and I can assure you that the baby was not delivered in this hospital.”

On intimation, Patnaik and her team reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem. While, further investigation into the matter is currently underway, this incident proves that the state of girls in the county remains dismal.
