Rourkela: In a shocking incident, a Professor of NIT Rourkela and his wife were found dead inside their quarters in the premises of the renowned institute on Saturday morning.
The deceased have been identified as R. Jayabalan (38) and his wife Malini Kesavan of Tamil Nadu. They had tied the knot nine years ago. Jalan was an assistant professor in the Life Sciences Department, informed sources.
As per reports, their officials quarters had been locked for two days. Their neighbours and colleagues suspected something fishy and informed the authorities. On intimation, police reached the spot, broke into the house and recovered the naked bodies.
A four-page suicide note has been recovered. It is suspected that the duo consumed poison and killed themselves. “Prima facie it looks like a suicide case. There is no clear-cut indication of the reason behind this step. However, they were childless and have asked for forgiveness from their parents. Further probe is on.” said Sarthak Sarangi, SP of Rourkela.
