Bhubaneswar: As of now there is no proposal to change the nomenclature of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), informed Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Pratap Jena in the Odisha Assembly here today.
In a written reply to a question by BJP member Madan Mohan Dutta, Jena said that a total of 18,02,764 families in the State have been sanctioned pucca houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY).
The Minister has stated that for providing the pucca houses to the beneficiaries under the PMAY & BPGY, the Central government has spent Rs 9,900 crore and Rs 9,804 crore has been spent by the State government.
As per data provided by the Minister, out of the total 18,02,764 families provided with pucca houses in the State, 15,46,160 families have been provided houses under the PMAY and 2,56,604 families have been provided with pucca houses under BPGY.
The data further reveals that from 2016-17 to 2019-20 the State has received Rs 9900.4 crore as Central share under PMAY(G) and has provided Rs 6600.27 crore towards State share.
Similarly, the State government has incurred an expenditure of Rs 3418.22 crore under BPGY from 2014-15 to 2019-20, the data provided by the Minister stated.
