Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal. As of 5:30 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) today, the system is located over the same region and is expected to move west-northwestwards across Odisha over the next 24 hours.
The movement of the low-pressure system is being closely watched, and the IMD has cautioned that it may lead to adverse weather conditions in Odisha. People are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall.
This weather system is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in various parts of Odisha.
As per the IMD prediction meant for today, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall today. These districts have been issued red warning. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong surface winds are also forecast in these areas.
Besides, an orange alert has been issued for Puri, Khordha, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Koraput, and Nabarangapur, where heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are anticipated at one or two places today.
