Bhubaneswar: With one more death reported due to wall collapse from Bajragumma under Digapahandi block in Ganjam district today, the death toll due to wall collapse in Odisha caused by low pressure-induced incessant rains across the State over the last three days rose to five.
The deceased, a 10-month-old infant is the son of Santosh Kumar Naik. Four others were also injured in the mishap. The local Block Development Officer (BDO) and tehsildar have rushed to the spot and were conducting an enquiry into the incident till reports last came in.
Earlier on Friday, two others had died in separate wall collapse incidents in Puri and Aul in Kendrapara district.
Besides, on Thursday two more had died in separate incidents of wall collapse in Harichandanpur in Keonjhar district and Raibania in Balasore districts.
However, there has been no official confirmation of these deaths due to wall collapse barring the one in Harichandanpur which was confirmed by Special Relief Commissioner Pradip Kumar Jena on Friday.
