Bhubaneswar: All the scheduled 18 matches were played on the fourth day of the Odisha Open 2022 – BWF tournament at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack on Friday.
Below are the highlights of the day:
1) Priyanshu Rajawat (India) def Mithun Manjunath (India) in a three-game thriller 13-21 21-14 21-8 to reach semifinals. Kiran George (India) also overcame stiff challenge against Shubhankar Dey (India)
2) Malvika Bansod (India) prevails over Tanya Hemanth. While Smit Toshniwal (India) defeated Ishika Jaiswal (USA) to reach the final four.
Unnati Hooda and Ashmita Chaliha also won their respective QFs to reach the semis.
3) Krishna Prasad/Vishu Vardhan went down against Sri Lankan pair, a major upset in Men’s Doubles. They will face Malaysian pair Nur Mohd/Lim Khim Wah in the semis.
4) Treesa Jolly/Gayathri Gopichand (India) register a comfortable win to advance into the semis. Sanyogita Ghorpade/Shruti Mishra (India) also won their quarterfinal and will play Srevidya G(India)/Ishika Jaiswal (USA) for a palce in the finals.
5) Swetaparna Panda/B Yadav reached the semifinals of the mixed doubles, making Swetaparna Panda, a local Odia girl, the first women from her state to feature in a Super 100 Semifinals.
