Bhubaneswar: The final voters’ list for the Panchayat elections in the State will be published by December 14, informed State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, Padhi said that the cut-off date for the registration of names in the electoral roll (voters’ list) was November 1. The persons who have completed 18 years of age by November 1 will be included in the voters’ list.
The voters’ list will be prepared based on the voters’ list of the Central Election Commission, said Padhi adding that the Election Commission of India (ECI) had declared the assembly-wise voters’ list on January 1 and presently it will be split up ward-wise.
The preliminary voters’ list will be displayed at the gram panchayat headquarters from November 16 to 23. People seeking any amendments can submit an application with the Panchayat Extension Officer, in-charge Electoral Registration Officer, by 23.11.2021, he added.
The applications can be submitted through Form 16 and Form 17 by November 23. The Electoral Registration Officer will go through the claims and give his/her judgement by November 24 or 25, informed Padhi.
After the publication of the draft voters’ list, the people who are not satisfied with it can file an objection near the Block Development Officer (BDO), who is the Appellate Authority, by November 29 and 30.
The BDO will conduct a hearing and pass his/her judgement by December 1 or 2. The final voters’ list will be prepared by December 4 and sent to the State Election Commission by December 6. The Commission will publish it by December 14, he added.
