Bhubaneswar: The kingpin of pangolin smuggling racket in Odisha has been arrested by the Forest Department from Godisahi area under Barang police limits in Cuttack on Thursday. The case in this connection was registered by Athgarh Forest Division on November 30. So far, 15 persons have been arrested in this case including the kingpin identified as Madhav Chandra Patra.
“We are working closely with the Special Task Force of the Crime Branch to unearth to pangolin smuggling racket. The kingpin had fled after his associates were nabbed. He will be forwarded to the court on Friday. The STF and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, are working closely to put an end to pangolin smuggling in Odisha,” Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW), Hari Shankar Upadhyay said.
