Bhubaneswar: Out of the 64 candidates in the fray in Phase III Lok Sabha election in Odisha, 28 (44%) candidates have assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore, according to a report released Odisha Election Watch.
Six candidates from BJD, four each from Congress and BJP are crorepatis, the report said.
Six parliamentary constituencies — Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Puri and Sambalpur — are going to polls on May 25.
The average of assets per candidate contesting in the Odisha Phase-III Lok Sabha Elections is Rs. 11.80 crores, ADR reportes revealed.
The average assets of BJD candidates are analyzed at 95 crores, followed by BJP at Rs 5 crore and Congress with Rs 2 crore.
BJD’s Cuttack Lok Sabha nominee Santrupt Misra is the richest with assets of Rs whopping Rs 482 crore followed by BJD’s Dhenkanal LS candidate Abinash Samal having Rs 36 crore and BSP’s Ram Prasad Hembram from Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat with Rs 35 crore.
Independent candidate Dillip Kumar Baral contesting from Puri LS seat is the poor candidate having asset of Rs 4,032 only.
The richest candidate Santrupt Misra has the highest income. Manmath Routray of BJD who is contesting from Bhubaneswar LS seat is the second highest income holder while Sasmita Behera, Congress’ Dhenkanal LS candidate stood third in the income.
