Cuttack: Close to 800 persons are being tested daily for Covid-19 in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) area, informed CMC Commissioner Ananya Das.
The figure includes tests conducted at SCB Medical College & Hospital and private laboratories in the city, she added.
Briefing reporters after a review meeting of the Covid situation in Cuttack district, the CMC Commissioner said, now that antigen test kits are available with CMC, the civic body plans to go for testing by setting up camps.
While informing that the civic body had adopted camp testing in containment zones, Das said that the same strategy will be adopted in other areas as well to ramp up testing in the city.
Out of 98 new positive cases reported in Cuttack district today 76 positive cases were reported from Cuttack city (CMC area).
As per details shared by CMC on Twitter 46 out of the new cases are from containment zone, 07 home quarantine cases,07 institutional quarantine cases and 16 local contact cases.
The city as on date has 773 active cases.
Collector Cuttack Bhabani Shankar Chayani informed that as on date the district is capable of conducting 1500 tests in a day and plans are afoot to increase testing.
The matter was discussed at today’s meeting on how to get machinery and trained manpower for that, he added.
“How testing can be increased came up for discussion at the meeting. Malgodown area Chhatra Bazaar issues also came up for discussion during the meeting. The situation has stabilized since last week,” said Covid Observer for Cuttack district Saurabh Garg.
