Bhubaneswar: The four players from Odisha who represented the Indian women’s blind cricket team in the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, Phula Soren, Parvati Marndi, Yamuna Rani Tudu, and Basanti Hansda, paid a courtesy call on the Odisha Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Anu Garg, at Lok Seva Bhawan.
Garg congratulated the players for their incredible performance and for bringing glory to the state and the country. She wished them a bright future and expressed her joy in meeting the players.
The Development Commissioner said that the historic victory achieved by the players has inspired all the sports talents of Odisha and set an example for all the differently-abled and women. She also praised their coach for his hard work and contribution.
After the World Cup victory, the Chief Minister honoured these players with a cash prize of Rs. 11 lakh each for their outstanding performance.
Additional Secretary of the Water Resources Department and Managing Director of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation, Mansi Nimbal, was also present during the meeting.
