**Cuttack:** In a shocking display of insensitivity and high handedness, a senior police officer was caught on camera slapping a youth who was participating in a protest here on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Badambadi area where a group of social activists were organising a protest march for prohibition. While the police was trying to clear the road blockade, the youth in question was filming it on his camera.
ACP of the Zone, Sk Sarifuddin seemingly irked by the filming act, slapped the youth and allegedly tried to snatch his phone. The act was captured on the mobile camera following which the youth raised a voice of protest.
“I will report the matter with senior police officials and if no action is taken against the police officer who thrashed me, I will move the Human Rights Commission,” the youth said.
On the other hand, DGP Dr RP Sharma adivsed police personnel to excercise restraint while moderating such situations. He stated that severe action would be taken against police personnel who try to take law into their own hands.
“This, and another incident have come to my notice and I will inquire into the matter. Action would be initiated against whoever is found guilty,” Dr Sharma said.
