Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police athletes continue to make the state and the country proud at the ongoing World Police and Fire Games 2025 in Birmingham, USA. On Thursday, four constables from the force clinched gold medals in track and field and karate, showcasing exceptional sporting excellence on the global stage.
Constable Ashok Dandasena emerged victorious in the 1500-meter (Men’s Category) race, adding a second gold to his name after an earlier win in the 800-meter race. Constable Susmita Tigga mirrored his feat by winning gold in the 1500-meter (Women’s Category). She had previously secured silver in the 800-meter race, making her one of the standout performers of the tournament.
In martial arts, Constable Bhagaban Reddy won gold in the under-64 kg Karate category, while Constable Suman Shekhar Das clinched top honours in the under-84 kg Karate category.
Congratulating the medal winners, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania applauded the athletes for their outstanding performance.
“Their achievements not only bring immense pride to Odisha Police but also inspire fellow officers and youth to pursue excellence both in service and in sports,” he said.
Held biennially, the World Police and Fire Games attract thousands of athletes from police, fire, and public safety departments around the world. The performance of Odisha’s athletes at this elite competition is a testament to the force’s dedication, discipline, and sporting spirit.
