**Sambalpur**: Cracking down on cases of illegal gambling, Dhanupali Police busted a gambling den in Sambalpur town and arrested at least nine persons from the spot on Thursday midnight.
Following a tip-off, a raid was conducted on a well-known hotel in Sambalpur city last night, where the gamblers where busy in action in one of the hotel rooms.
The cops seized Rs 3.80 lakh and 260 playing cards from the possession of the gamblers.
Police suspects the role of a racket behind the gambling case. According to the cops, new customers are being enticed to join the gambling racket through such parties.
The accused have been identified as Birendra Behera, Debasis Das, Manoj Pradhan, Sandeep Patnaik, Santosh Barma, Dilip Vanuri, Sesadev Pradhan, Srimanta Hota, and Satyanarayan Agrawal. All the accused persons belong to Sambalpur city.
